Know Your Agent Framework for Financial Services: Why Agentic Payments Need the StableX KYA Framework

English Chinese Built for financial institutions, payment service providers and other regulated paymentinfrastructure providers Payments have moved from person to person, to apps, and then to APIs. At every step, an institution could trace a payment instruction back to the customer or organisation behind it.Agentic payments introduce a new shift: the instruction can now come from an AI agent acting on a customer’s behalf. Without proper controls, an agent can move value with no verified identity, no clear limit on what it may do, and no named owner who is accountable for its actions. This creates a new governance question for institutions: when an AI agent acts on a customer’s behalf, how does the institution know which agent is acting, what it is authorised to do, and who is accountable for its actions? A Know Your Agent framework for financial services is the set of checks that tells an institution which AI agent is acting, who it’s acting for, and what it has been allowed to do, so every payment it makes can be traced to someone accountable. MetaComp’s StableX KYA Framework applies these checks to regulated payments and financial workflows. What Agentic Payments Risk Without a Know Your Agent Framework Without one, the risk lands exactly where banks and payment providers already answer to customers and regulators. Payments that are difficult to attribute. If an institution can’t show which agent sent a payment, for which customer, and under what authority, it becomes harder to investigate disputed or unauthorised transactions, determine accountability and demonstrate effective controls. Unclear accountability when agents act outside their mandate. An AI agent can act faster and at greater scale than a human operator. But when an agent acts outside what it was authorised to do, the institution still needs to be able to demonstrate appropriate governance and controls over activity executed through its infrastructure. Without clear ownership and defined authority, it can become difficult to establish responsibility and demonstrate that appropriate controls were in place. Gaps in compliance. If an agent can trigger or influence AML screening, transaction decisions or other controls, the institution needs a record of what the agent was authorised to do and how it acted. Without that context, it becomes harder to demonstrate that the right controls were applied and explain the decisions made to customers, auditors or regulators. Lack of trust across institutions. When agents pay agents at other institutions, neither side can rely on checks it can’t see. These gaps do not replace existing payment and compliance controls; they add a new layer of governance around the agent performing the action. The controls you run today assume a person presses the button. The StableX KYA Framework is built for when an agent does. The StableX KYA Framework at Work MetaComp, a MAS-licensed Major Payment Institution, introduced the StableX KYA framework at Money20/20 Asia in Bangkok on 21 April 2026. To the best of MetaComp’s knowledge and based on publicly available information, it is the first governance architecture of its

MetaComp and Alpha Ladder Enter MOU with Payward to Advance Tokenised Capital Markets in APAC

English Chinese MetaComp, Asia’s pioneer in unified Web2.5 digital financial solutions, together with its affiliate Alpha Ladder Finance (Alpha Ladder), and Payward, the parent company of global crypto platform Kraken and developer of the xStocks tokenised equities framework, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to accelerate the development and adoption of tokenised equities and next-generation capital market infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Under the agreement, Alpha Ladder — MetaComp’s affiliate licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to conduct regulated activities under a Capital Markets Services (CMS) licence and approved as a Recognised Market Operator (RMO), will act as a structuring and distribution partner for Payward in connection with the xStocks offering across permitted APAC markets, subject to obtaining any required regulatory approvals, satisfying applicable licensing requirements and finalising commercial requirements. MetaComp will support the collaboration by leveraging its digital payment token, stablecoin, payments and settlement capabilities and infrastructure, to the extent permitted under its applicable licences, approvals and prevailing regulatory requirements. Eddie Hui, Co-President and Chief Operating Officer, MetaComp; Tracy Xu, Business Development Manager, MetaComp; Constance Chen, Head of APAC Growth, Payward; Dr Bo Bai, CEO and Executive Chairman, MetaComp Dr. Bo Bai, Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Alpha Ladder Group:“We are excited to be working with Payward to open a new venue for institutional liquidity. By accepting tokenised equities as eligible collateral, we are extending the capital efficiency of equity ownership beyond market hours, giving clients in APAC a financing solution that moves at the speed of digital assets. This moves tokenised markets from being theoretically accessible to practically usable for regulated institutions.” Val Gui, General Manager of xStocks:“This agreement is a meaningful step toward turning capital markets into something truly global and accessible by default. Tokenisation removes the structural barriers that have historically limited who can access and participate in the world’s most valuable assets. Our vision is simple: any investor, anywhere, should be able to access global equities as easily as they access the internet.” Together, the parties will focus on enabling institutional and, over time, broader market participants to gain access to global capital markets through blockchain-based infrastructure. This includes giving institutional clients in APAC access to tokenised equity offerings through xStocks, including shares in high-profile listed companies. This MOU represents a key step toward building more mature, interoperable capital markets infrastructure in Asia, combining regulatory rigour, institutional distribution and product innovation under a single strategic framework. In the coming months, MetaComp, Alpha Ladder and Payward will explore possible tokenisation-related opportunities and assess counterparties and use cases for tokenisation across APAC, leveraging their combined networks and capital markets expertise to build a pipeline of participants entering the tokenised securities market.
